Chika MODUM

Chika Modum is a Nigerian-born artist who earned her BFA degree in Painting from the University of Nigeria and is presently pursuing an MFA degree from the University of Calgary, Canada. Chika’s work draws from familiar processes and textures originating in her West African background, which she interplays with influences from North American popular culture. Her works have been exhibited at Hamilton Artists Inc., Harcourt House Arts Centre, Stride Gallery and The Little Gallery. She has participated in numerous international exhibitions. She has been the recipient of Edmonton Arts Council’s Cultural Diversity in the Arts and The Queen Elizabeth II awards. She presently lives and works in Canada.
