Corps en Résonance: interactive visual and sound installation, 2013, © Naziha Mestaoui.

The work of Naziha Mastaoui, Body Resonance, fused material, light and sound. This is an interactive sound and visual installation. According to the movements of visitors, the installation runs to generate sound and light reflections. The work consists of a series of Tibetan singing bowls filled with water, aligned in space. First silent, the bowls respond to the presence of visitors rotating on themselves and gradually producing sounds. Sound frequencies generated and invade the body to resonate harmoniously with the whole system. According to the Tibetan tradition, each of the metals used to create bowls refers to the seven chakras. Every being is the embodiment of the energy produced by these sounds. The etymology of the word "person" also tells us about the meaning of the work. The word "person", from the Latin perso-nare and sonare meaning resonate through, corresponds to the idea of songs that resonate with the body. Sound waves become visible through the liquid contained in the bowls materialize waves that pass through the body. Thus, body in Resonance is a work both tangible and evanescent.

Born in 1975, Naziha Mestaoui is an artist and architect who merges space, image and the innovations of the digital world, to create immersive and sensory experiences. She is member of the duo Electronic Shadow founded in 2000, recognized pioneer in the art of the digital age and inventor of Video Mapping at the intersection of space and image. The duo has marked its journey with numerous exhibitions across the globe; MOMA in New York, Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, the Museum of Photography in Tokyo, the Contemporary Art Biennale in Sevilla, Sao Paulo’s SESI, Shanghai’s MOCA…. and in 2011, a large-scale solo exhibition at the Musée Granet in Aix en Provence, discovered by more than 35000 visitors. Since 2011, a new field of research led Naziha to develop an artistic creation linking the most contemporary to ancestral cultures. Several travels into different tribes of the world gave birth to a new series of works at the crossroads of the most advanced technologies and traditional knowledge, questioning our own perception of reality, beyond the divorce between the intelligible and sensitive, she invites us to sense perception. The question nature is now the heart of the artistic and cultural issues.
