Born in Zambia in 1976, lives and works in Lusaka, Zambia.

My work evolves from the human form; I engage with society and use my surroundings as a tool for reflection. My ideas are fuelled by experiences of self and others in a pursuit for satisfaction. The creation takes off consciously, thereafter my subconscious takes flight.

My work carries the spirit of Africa through inserts of ethnic symbolic imagery while at the same time exerting universal energies. This symbolism is both culturally authentic and selfgenerated. The process of creating is a ritual of recycling canvases initially used as paint mixing supports that are later transformed into paintings. This deliberate reuse of materials is in line with my philosophy that there is a strong connection between paintings. Guardians of Tradition illustrates the duty bestowed upon the physical and spiritual beings that usher boys coming of age after their circumcision and seclusion and later inclusion into the world as men.

These graduates of the Luvale, Chokwe or Mbunda tribes leave mukanda (a camp where boys are trained) equipped with the right morals and skills to take up their responsibilities and roles in society.
