Céleur Jean HERARD

Jean Herard Céleur was born in 1966 in Port-au-Prince in Haïti.

He learned sculpture alongside his brother. From sculpture of academic nature of its inception, developing into a style more personal through a variety of materials. “My work presents social and intellectual aspects and embodies the popular demand for change. I live in a reality facing every day’s poverty. This is the essence of my art.”

Céleur displays his work since 1998, in Haïti, Barbados, the U.S. and England including: the National Pantheon Museum of Haïti, at Columbia College in Chicago in the United States, at the Ifan Museum of Dakar... His work is also in the permanent collection of the Frost Art Museum at Florida International University.
