Cheikhou BÂ

Born in 1971, Senegalese artist Cheikhou Bâ is a graduate of the National Arts School in Dakar. He obtained a graduate degree in Ceramic and Polymer Production at the Geneva University of art and design in 2011. Individual exhibitions have included shows at the Dakar Art Gallery in 2003 and the Rur’Art Contemporary Art Space in Poitou-Charentes in 2005. In the same year, Bâ undertook a residency at the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation and was part of the Kulttuurikauppila in Finland. In 2007 he exhibited at the Galerie du Château in Renens, Switzerland and in 2011 at the Kalao in Bilbao.
Collective shows have included « Paraplu Fabriek » in Nijmen, in the Netherlands in 2008, the « All Barnsley Diversity Festival » in South Yorkshire, in England in 2009 and at the Mojo Gallery in Dubai in 2010. In 2011 he participated in « Fiac » at the Museum of contemporary Art in Algiers and he won the Brückner Foundation Award in Carouge, Switzerland.

« Pas assez » is an installation made from electrical outlets with which Cheikhou Bâ write and demonstrate against power outages in Senegal.
