Born in 1970, Cheikh N’diaye is a graduate of the National School of Arts in Dakar and School of Fine Arts in Lyon. He lives between New York, Dakar and Lyon. His work (painting, photography and installation) is guided by myths, tales and legends, and how they influence social codes. He is particularly interested in the fields of architecture, design and urban planning.

« Garage Mécanique Dakar »: in the foreground, paint palette deposits become sort of fossils. The pictorial process gives an antique look to this garage, inside space opened on the outside. Characters appear by removing layers previously painted, as spectrums. By performing addition and subtraction Cheikh N’diaye rehabilitates and re-inhabits areas and gaps where the social and the real become stitched together.
