Ismaïl Bahri (born in 1978 in Tunis) is an artist living and working between Tunis and Paris. Without favouring a single medium, he combines video, drawing, sculpture, and sound in experimental setups that observe gestures, minute phenomena, and what happens at the periphery of the gaze. His practice often relies on simple, empirical protocols (air circulation, light, vibration, movement, or the reaction of a material) to make the presence of the surrounding world perceptible. His work has notably been shown at the Centre Pompidou, Jeu de Paume, Museo Reina Sofía, Beirut Art Center, and the Sharjah Biennial. A Villa Medici fellow in 2023–2024, he presents the solo exhibition Rewind at Le Creux de l’Enfer in Thiers in 2026.
