Soguy Diop est un Artiste-peintre autodidacte, né en 1961 à Dakar. La peinture est une passion, une vocation qui l’anime depuis son enfance. Homme de métier, il peint régulièrement dans son atelier au Village des Arts de DAKAR. Il travaille beaucoup la peinture au couteau. Depuis le 5eme Salon national des artistes plasticiens en 1992, à Dakar, il a participé à plusieurs expositions, dont certaines à caractère humanitaire : Unicef / Nations Unies / Croix Rouge… Ses œuvres se retrouvent en Europe, aux Etats Unis et un peu partout dans le monde, notamment dans les collections privées, entre autres le Roi du Maroc, la Banque Mondiale, l’Etat du Sénégal, etc. Peintre de la société, il puise ses références dans le fécond répertoire de la nature humaine qui l’inspire en permanence. Sa démarche picturale est une réflexion sur la coexistence entre les humains. Il s’agit d’une interrogation sur la Complexité humaine, la société et le monde. Il transcrit sur ses toiles des visions du monde essentiellement basées sur l’équilibre et l’harmonie, la notion de complémentarité et de valeurs partagées.
Soguy Diop is a self-taught painter, born in 1961 in Dakar. Painting is a passion, a calling that has driven him since my childhood. As a tradesman, he paints regularly in his studio at the Village des Arts in DAKAR. He does a lot of knife painting. His pictorial approach is a reflection on the coexistence between humans. It is a questioning of human complexity, society and the world. He transcribes on my canvases visions of the world essentially based on balance and harmony, the notion of complementarity and shared values.
