Morad Montazami is an art historian, publisher and exhibition curator. After working at Tate Modern in London
between 2014 and 2019 to develop the Middle East and North Africa collections, he founded and directs the
editorial and curatorial platform Zamân Books & Curating, dedicated to modern and contemporary African, Arab and
Asian art as well as postcolonial art history.
His recent projects include co-curating the exhibition Casablanca Art School, presented at Tate St Ives, Sharjah Art Foundation and Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt in 2023–2024, as well as Présences Arabes. Art moderne et décolonisation. Paris 1908–1988 at the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris in 2024. He is the author of numerous essays and publications devoted to major artists such as Walid
Raad, Zineb Sedira, Latif Al Ani, Faouzi Laatiris, Moffat Takadiwa, Salah Elmur, Mohamed Melehi,
Ramsès Younan and Iman Issa.
He is currently preparing the exhibition Soleil noir, which tackles the relationship between contemporary art and petroleum at Villa Medici — Académie de France in Rome for 2026–2027. For Dakar Biennale 2026, he is developing an original curatorial project in line with the mission and values of the Biennale of Contemporary African Art.
