Né en 1983 à Abengourou. Vit et travaille à New York et Abidjan. Ayant des parents aux revenus modestes, Aboudia n’a pas connu la féerie des cadeaux et autres jouets des jours de fête. Nombre de ses créations témoignent de son expertise juvénile à faire des choses surprenantes avec du fil de fer et des objets récupérés. Il est repéré pour ses toiles documentant la Bataille d’Abidjan (2011). En 2012, pour son exposition inaugurale, la Galerie Fakhoury (Abidjan) réunit ses travaux et ceux de Bruly Bouabré, puis lui consacre deux expositions (Nouchi City, 2014 et Môgô Dynasty, 2016) dans une démarche propre au Street-Art. En 2019, il participe à 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair (Marrackech). Ses graffitis et graphismes colorés ne constituent pas les seuls marqueurs identitaires de ses œuvres. Ses représentations mobilisent une somme de sculptures, statues et masques africains sous forme de collage de pages de magazines ou de catalogues. Des tracés à la craie pastel cernent ou contournent des portraits mi-humains mi-sculpturaux et donnent davantage de force à ses créations. Aboudia expose régulièrement à Londres, New York, Paris, Johannesburg, Dakar, Abidjan. Ses œuvres figurent dans les records de vente aux enchères. Il participe à la 59 ème Biennale des Arts de Venise (2022).
Born in 1983 in Côte d’Ivoire.Lives and works in New York and Abidjan.Like many children from parents with low income, Aboudia has not enjoyed the excitement of gifts and other toys during holidays. So many of his creations are a testament to his youthful expertise in making surprising things out of wire and salvaged objects. Spotted for his paintings documenting the Battle of Abidjan (2011), he was propelled to the forefront of the art scene. In 2012, for his inaugural exhibition, the Galerie Fakhoury brought together his work and that of Bruly Bouabré. Subsequently, it dedicated two solo exhibitions: Nouchi City (2014) and Môgô Dynasty (2016), in an approach specific to Street-Art. In 2019, he participated in 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair (Marrackech). Since then, Aboudia regularly exhibits in London, New York, Paris, Johannesburg, Dakar, Abidjan. The graffiti and colored graphics visible in his paintings are not the only identity markers of his work. Indeed, the representations mobilize a sum of sculptures, statues and African masks – often in the form of collages of pages from magazines or catalogs. Pastel chalk outlines surround or contour half-human, half-sculptural portraits and give her creations added strength. Aboudia is one of the prides of contemporary art.
