Aïcha Aïdara reçoit son diplôme de l’École Nationale des Arts de Dakar en 1999.Son père, chercheur en art plastique, a dû sûrement l’inspirer. Deux ans après l’obtention de son diplôme, elle fut lauréate du prix Design21, initié par l’Unesco et le groupe japonais Felissimo. En mai 2005, Aicha AIDARA fut sélectionnée pour l’exposition inaugurale de la Galerie Le Manège de l’Institut Français de Dakar, « Création contemporaine au Sénégal». Aïcha va également figurer dans la sélection officielle du DAK’ART 2004. Les œuvres de Aicha AIDARA sont exposées en France, au Canada, en Espagne ou à Bâle en Suisse. Aicha AIDARA participe en 2004 à l’exposition collective « Beautés Afriques » au Lieu Unique de Nantes, puis en 2010 elle est invitée en résidence à la Rochelle par l’association Art et ACT. Elle y exposa ensuite à la chapelle Saint-Vincent pendant « l’Automne Africain ». Dans chacune de ses œuvres, Aicha s’inspire du graphisme des pagnes traditionnels et compose ses toiles en mêlant la peinture à des morceaux d’étoffe ou des fils. Aicha Aidara, travaille et vit à Dakar, au Sénégal.
Aïcha Aïdara graduated from the École Nationale des Arts in Dakar, in 1999. Her father, a plastic arts researcher, probably inspired her. Two years after her graduation, she won the Design21 prize, initiated by UNESCO and the Japanese group Felissimo. In May 2005, Aicha AIDARA was selected for the inaugural exhibition of the Galerie Le Manège of the French Institute of Dakar, “Contemporary creation in Senegal”. Aïcha will also appear in the official selection of DAK’ART 2004. Aicha AIDARA’s works are exhibited in France, Canada, Spain and Basel in Switzerland. In 2004, Aicha AIDARA took part in the group exhibition “Beautés Afriques” at the Lieu Unique in Nantes, then in 2010 she was invited to a residency in La Rochelle by the association Art and ACT. She then exhibited there at the Saint-Vincent chapel during “l’Automne Africain”. In each of her works, Aicha is inspired by the graphics of traditional loincloths and composes her canvases by mixing paint with pieces of fabric or threads.
