Cristiano Mangovo a obtenu son diplôme en peinture à la Faculté des Beaux-Arts de Kinshasa, RDC en 2007 et a participé à plusieurs ateliers sur la scénographie urbaine et la performance. Les peintures, sculptures, installations et performances de Mangovo sont inspirées du quotidien dans un environnement urbain et mettent souvent en avant la nécessité de protéger les plus faibles des plus forts, appelant à des sociétés plus équitables avec de meilleures conditions de vie pour tous. À travers ses peintures et collages, Mangovo a au fil des années développé divers styles et symbolismes, tout en conservant une forte approche surréaliste. Son travail a déjà obtenu une importante reconnaissance, avec une cinquantaine d’expositions et de performances réalisées, dont son exposition personnelle de fin d’études en 2013 à la Fundação Arte e Cultura, à Luanda, présentée la même année à Art BAI.
Cristiano Mangovo earned his Degree in Fine Art from the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo with additional training in urban scenography and performance. Mangovo’s paintings, sculptures, installations, and performances are inspired by daily urban life and often appeal to the need to protect weaker people from the stronger, calling for more balanced societies with improved conditions for all. Through his paintings and collages over the years, Mangovo has developed various styles and symbolisms, but always with a distinct surrealist approach. Mangovo received early recognition for his work, building up to some fifty exhibitions and performances with his first post-graduate solo exhibition in 2013 by the Foundation Art and Culture in Luanda, which ended up touring to Art BAI that year.
