Mia Thom (née en 1995) est une artiste interdisciplinaire basée au Cap, qui explore les possibilités matérielles et psychoacoustiques du son pour remettre en question les modes d’accès à la connaissance. En 2017, elle a été diplômée de l’école des beaux-arts Michaelis (UCT) avec un BAFA (Hons) avec distinction. Thom a pris part à plusieurs expositions collectives ainsi qu’à des festivals locaux et internationaux. Plus récemment, elle a présenté une installation à la galerie Circa d’Everard Read au Cap, intitulée Attune (2021) et participera au Bowed Electrons Festival and Symposium (2021). Mia Thom travaille actuellement en tant qu’artiste pratiquant, photographe indépendant de reproduction d’œuvres d’art. Elle étudie également la psychologie à l’université du Cap (UCT).
Mia Thom (b.1995) is a Cape Town based interdisciplinary artist, who explores the material and psychoacoustic possibilities of sound to challenge the ways in which we access knowledge. In 2017, she graduated from the Michaelis School of Fine Art (UCT) with a BAFA (Hons) with distinction. Thom has taken part in several group shows as well as both local and international festivals. Most recently she had an installation at Everard Read’s Circa gallery in Cape Town, titled Attune (2021) and will be participating in the Bowed Electrons Festival and Symposium (2021). Mia Thom currently works as a practicing artist, freelance artwork reproduction photographer. She is currently also studying psychology at the University of Cape Town (UCT).
