Dior Thiam est une artiste germano-sénégalaise explorant les histoires non racontées et les connaissances historiques à travers divers médiums artistiques. En mêlant événements historiques, poésie, et expériences personnelles, son travail interroge la mémoire et la perception. Elle défie les spectateurs à repenser leur relation à l’image, jouant avec le voyeurisme et la nostalgie et incite le spectateur à se positionner différemment par rapport à ce qu’il voit et à la manière dont il le voit.
Collaborant avec des institutions telles que la Galerie Le Manège Dakar et l’Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen (IFA), elle a été présentée dans des expositions en ligne et physiques, notamment lors de la 14e Biennale OFF de Dakar. Son travail a été exposé à travers le monde, de la Galerie Cécile Fakhoury à Abidjan à la Goodman Gallery à Johannesburg. Lauréate du BBA Artist Prize 2023, elle participe à des résidences artistiques et ses œuvres sont régulièrement présentées dans des expositions collectives en Europe et aux États-Unis. Actuellement basée à Berlin, elle continue d’explorer les intersections de l’histoire et de l’art.
Dior Thiam is a German-Senegalese artist exploring untold stories and historical knowledge through various artistic mediums.
