Primo Mauridi, originaire de Goma, en République démocratique du Congo, est un photographe et cinéaste dont le travail explore l’écologie et les relations entre les êtres vivants. Venant de l’Est meurtri du pays, il dépeint également l’instabilité de sa terre d’origine. Primo Mauridi débute en 2013 son parcours professionnel comme Adjoint du directeur artistique de l’Organisation Hortensia et est sélectionné pour participer à la classe Africanfuturism dirigée par le cinéaste Petna Ndaliko Katondolo. Il réalise Mayi Yangu, film présenté au Festival “Congo International Film festival”. En 2022 il participe à la 14ème édition du festival “Congo in Harlem” à New York et la biennale de Lubumbashi.
En parallèle, Primo Mauridi devient photographe officiel des événements culturels tels que le Festival “Hadisi Urban Festival”. En 2021, Yole! Africa, lui donne la direction du département Photos et Vidéos, et remporte la bourse d’étude de la Canon VII Académie. Avec son projet Surface, Primo Mauridi convoque le Corps. La peau est utilisée comme matière première pour peindre des photos, en résistance à l’horreur des corps meurtris.
Avec Mawe, un projet qui a comme fil rouge le volcan éponyme, il touche les domaines de l’écologie, des rites ancestraux, convoque la vidéo, le numérique et la photographie. Une partie de ce projet a été exposé à la 17ème édition des Rencontres d’Ishango en juin 2022. L’artiste participe également aux Rencontres internationales des arts numériques et visuels d’Abidjan RIANA 2022. En juin 2023, il est sélectionné par l’organisation internationale de la francophonie pour participer à la neuvième édition des jeux de la francophonie à Kinshasa.

The skin is used as a raw material to paint photos, in resistance to the horror of bruised bodies.
With Mawe, a project which has the eponymous volcano as its common thread, he touches on the areas of ecology, ancestral rites, summons video, digital technology and photography. Part of this project was exhibited at the 17th edition of the Rencontres d’Ishango in June 2022. The artist also participates in the International Meetings of Digital and Visual Arts of Abidjan RIANA 2022. In June 2023, he is selected by the international organization of the Francophonie to participate in the ninth edition of the Francophonie games in Kinshasa.
