Sènami Donoumassou, visual artist, explores the concepts of identity, heritage and history at the heart of her artistic practice. In her works, she experiments with a range of technical and poetic possibilities of light, moving between photograms, polymorphic installations and drawings.
Her artistic commitment has been illustrated by her participation in prestigious group exhibitions, in particular “Amazones” at the center of Abomey-Calavi in 2017, “[In]visibles-Femmes sovereignes” at the French Institute of Cotonou in 2021 and her contribution to the collective exhibition “Didé” in 2018 at the Institut Français du Bénin in Cotonou. Sènami Donoumassou was recognized as the winner of the first edition of the James Barnor Prize in 2022, confirming her significant influence on the contemporary art scene.
