Balla Niang is a Senegalese artist, designer, and furniture maker based in Rufisque. Within the Nulangee studio, founded in 2002 by his brother Babacar, he works with local and reclaimed materials such as wood, ebony, leather, and cattle horn. His sculptural, often zoomorphic pieces seek to combine use, longevity, respect for the living world, and the promotion of Senegalese know-how, while paying particular attention to the issues of deforestation and reuse. In 2026, he is presented by Homo Faber, notably with the Vertébré Vene chair, carved from a piece of wood following the natural lines of the material.
