Née en 1971 à La Réunion, Catherine Boyer vit et travaille sur l’île. Après les ateliers d’art du Village Titan, elle obtient un DNSEP aux Beaux-Arts de Marseille puis revient vivre sur l’île. Le dessin et la sculpture occupent une place centrale dans une pratique qui construit une relation sensible et sensorielle au vivant — fleurs, végétaux, cheveux, minéraux, insectes ou micro-organismes — et interroge le corps, notamment féminin, dans son interdépendance avec la biosphère. Son travail a notamment été présenté au FRAC Réunion, à Drawing Now, à la Joburg Art Fair et, en 2024, dans Astèr Atèrla au CCCOD à Tours et à la Friche la Belle de Mai à Marseille. Ses œuvres figurent dans les collections de l’Artothèque, du FRAC Réunion et de la Région Réunion.
Born in 1971 on Réunion Island, Catherine Boyer lives and works there. After attending the art workshops at Village Titan, she earned a DNSEP (master’s-level degree in fine art) from the Beaux-Arts de Marseille before returning to live on the island. Drawing and sculpture are central to a practice that builds a sensitive, sensory relationship with the living world (flowers, plants, hair, minerals, insects, and microorganisms) and interrogates the body, particularly the female body, in its interdependence with the biosphere. Her work has notably been shown at FRAC Réunion, Drawing Now, Joburg Art Fair, and, in 2024, in Astèr Atèrla at the CCCOD in Tours and at La Friche la Belle de Mai in Marseille. Her works are held in the collections of the Artothèque, FRAC Réunion, and Région Réunion.
