Neve Insular est un collectif artistique de l’île de São Vicente, au Cabo Verde, créé en 2018 par Rita Rainho et Vanessa Monteiro. Né d’une recherche autour de la panaria — le panu d’terra, tissu traditionnel capverdien — le collectif relie art, design, savoirs textiles, territoire et agroécologie. À Madeiral, il a initié une plantation de coton biologique en collaboration avec la communauté agricole locale, faisant du cycle même de la fibre une partie intégrante de l’œuvre. Neve Insular organise ateliers, résidences, performances et récoltes communautaires, et travaille à la transmission de gestes et de savoirs liés au coton et au tissage. Son projet 0,0003% algodão e resistência a notamment été présenté au Portugal en 2023.
Neve Insular is an art collective from the island of São Vicente, Cabo Verde, founded in 2018 by Rita Rainho and Vanessa Monteiro. Born from research into panaria, the panu d’terra, a traditional Cabo Verdean textile, the collective connects art, design, textile knowledge, territory, and agroecology. In Madeiral, it initiated an organic cotton plantation in collaboration with the local farming community, making the very cycle of the fibre an integral part of the work. Neve Insular organises workshops, residencies, performances, and community harvests, and works to pass on the gestures and knowledge linked to cotton and weaving. Its project 0,0003% algodão e resistência has notably been presented in Portugal in 2023.
