Faouzi Laatiris (born in Imilchil) is a Moroccan artist and teacher who lives and works between Tétouan and Martil. After graduating from the Institut national des beaux-arts in Tétouan in 1983 and from the École des beaux-arts de Bourges in the late 1980s, he joined the teaching staff of the INBA in Tétouan, where he founded the Volume and Installation workshop in the early 1990s. His pedagogical role is closely tied to the emergence of the « Tétouan generation. » At the intersection of sculpture, installation, performance, and public space, his work develops an aesthetic of hybridisation, attentive to urban transformations, systems of production, système D (resourceful improvisation), and the poetics of ruin. His work has notably been shown at the Biennale de Dakar in 2002, the Istanbul Biennial in 2011, and at the Institut du monde arabe and MuCEM in 2014.
