Peter Mabeo est un designer de mobilier botswanais et le fondateur de Mabeo Studio. Autodidacte, il développe depuis la fin des années 1990 une approche qui associe design contemporain, artisanat local, durabilité et production responsable. Le studio travaille avec des artisans du Botswana et privilégie les matériaux et savoir-faire du territoire, tout en développant des collaborations avec des designers internationaux. Mabeo a contribué à faire reconnaître une scène du design botswanais capable de dialoguer avec les circuits internationaux sans dissocier conception, fabrication, culture matérielle et conditions de production.
Peter Mabeo is a Botswanan furniture designer and the founder of Mabeo Studio. Self-taught, he has developed, since the late 1990s, an approach that combines contemporary design, local craftsmanship, sustainability, and responsible production. The studio works with artisans in Botswana and favours the materials and know-how of the region, while also developing collaborations with international designers. Mabeo has helped gain recognition for a Botswanan design scene able to engage with international circuits without dissociating design, making, material culture, and the conditions of production.
