Renée Akitelek Mboya est une écrivaine, commissaire d’exposition et réalisatrice. Sa pratique s’appuie sur la biographie et le récit comme formes de recherche et de production. Elle s’intéresse particulièrement aux images, à leurs conditions de production et à la manière dont elles participent à la construction et à la circulation de la violence raciale et des représentations du corps racisé. Elle travaille à travers le texte, le film et des projets curatoriaux. Renée travaille entre Dakar, Kigali et Nairobi, et est éditrice collaborative et membre du Wali Chafu Collective. Elle a notamment été co-commissaire de la 22e Biennale Sesc_Videobrasil en 2023 et conseillère curatoriale de la 58e Carnegie International en 2022.
Renée Akitelek Mboya is a writer, curator, and filmmaker. Her practice relies on biography and narrative as forms of research and production. She is particularly attentive to images, the conditions under which they are produced, and the ways in which they contribute to the construction and circulation of racial violence and representations of the racialised body. She works through text, film, and curatorial projects. Renée works between Dakar, Kigali, and Nairobi, and is a collaborative editor and member of the Wali Chafu Collective. She has notably served as co-curator of the 22nd Biennale Sesc_Videobrasil in 2023 and as curatorial advisor to the 58th Carnegie International in 2022.
