Abbesi Akhamie est une écrivaine / réalisatrice et productrice nigériane-américaine qui travaille entre Lagos et New York. Akhamie a obtenu sa maîtrise en cinéma à l’Université de New York et est également titulaire d’un BA en communication de l’Université George Mason. Son travail s’inspire de son héritage biculturel, et en particulier des cultures et expériences des africains et de la diaspora. Son premier court métrage, Still Water Runs Deep (2017), au Festival international du film de Toronto et a remporté le prix du meilleur court métrage étudiant à l’Aspen ShortsFest.
Abbesi Akhamie is a Nigerian-American writer/director and producer. Akhamie received her MFA in Film from New York University and also holds a BA in Communications from George Mason University. Her work is inspired by her bicultural heritage with a focus on African and diasporan cultures and experiences. Her debut short film, Still Water Runs Deep (2017) premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and won Best Student Short Film at Aspen ShortsFest
