Né en 1978 à Abidjan. Vit et travaille à Abidjan. Armand Boua a pris fait et cause pour les enfants de/dans la rue. Certains sont orphelins ; d’autres, issus de familles extrêmement pauvres. Il y a, de ce commun lot, ceux qui, pour diverses raisons, vivent volontairement hors du cadre familial. Sans faux-fuyant, Armand Boua nous interpelle sur leur condition de vie. Le manque criant de perspective et de profondeur dans ses tableaux apparaît comme la représentation de la fatalité chevillée leur destin piégé. Pour eux, l’avenir incertain ne laisse envisager aucune alternative presque. Armand Boua aime bien récupérer des cartons qui lui servent de fond à traiter. Il a bien raison : le carton est le lit, la natte, le matelas de ces mômes. Ses œuvres sont chromatiquement animées de tons blanc et noir. Le noir-goudron du bitume, du sol, du macadam, symbole du vécu quotidien de ces gosses du trottoir. Diplômé des Beaux-Arts d’Abidjan, Boua fait partie des jeunes artistes africains cotés sur le marché de l’Art. Il fait valoir son talent dans bien des expositions (USA, Grande Bretagne, Maroc, Sénégal, Côte d’Ivoire…). Il participe à la 59ème Biennale des Arts de Venise (2022).
Born in 1978 in Abidjan. Lives and works in Abidjan. Armand Boua has championed the cause of the children of (or in) the street. Some are orphans; others come from extremely poor families. Among them are those who, for various reasons, have voluntarily chosen to live outside the family environment With his brush, A. Boua unabashedly calls us to account on their living conditions. The blatant lack of perspective and depth in his paintings appears to be the representation of the fatality of their trapped fate. For them, the uncertain future leaves no alternative in sight. Armand Boua likes to recover cardboard boxes that serve as a background for his work. He is right: the cardboard is the bed, the mat, the mattress of these kids. His works are chromatically animated by black and white tones. The black-tar of the asphalt, of the ground, of the macadam, symbol of the daily life of these kids of the sidewalk. A graduate of the Abidjan School of Fine Arts, he is one of the young African artists quoted on the contemporary art market. He has shown his talent in many international exhibitions (USA, Great Britain, Morocco, Senegal, Ivory Coast…)
