janet e. dandridge est une artiviste interdisciplinaire qui encourage la prise de conscience, le discours et les solutions aux idéologies qui perpétuent l’injustice. janet mêle performance théâtrale, photographie, données empiriques, politique identitaire et fantaisie dans une réflexion approfondie sur les constructions sociales et les politiques gouvernementales. Utilisant principalement l’art de la performance, les installations interactives et la photographie abstraite, janet examine les traumatismes et la résilience, la thérapie géométrique, le racisme normalisé, l’altérité et le pouvoir des femmes noires. En novembre 2020, janet a reçu une première subvention de recherche du Washington Project for the Arts Wherewithal financée par la Fondation Andy Warhol pour explorer le trouble de stress traumatique perpétuel chez les femmes noires américaines. Son travail a été présenté dans le cadre de campagnes nationales de lutte contre le racisme et la misogynie dans des médias tels que Black in America de CNN avec Soledad O’Brien et Justice By Any Means de TV One. En 2017 et 2018, janet est nommée Artiste Lauréate par l’Institut Français, Paris. Primarily using performance art, interactive installations, and abstract photography, janet examines trauma and resilience, geometric therapy, normalized racism, Otherness, and the power of Black women. In November 2020, janet was awarded an inaugural Washington Project for the Arts Wherewithal Research Grant funded by The Andy Warhol Foundation to explore Perpetual Traumatic Stress Disorder in American Black women. Her work has been featured as part of national campaigns to combat racism and misogyny on media outlets including CNN’s Black in America with Soledad O’Brien, and TV One’s Justice By Any Means. In 2017 and 2018, janet was named Artist Laureate by Institut Français, Paris. janet’s work has been exhibited at the Abrons Arts Center NYC, LA Louver Los Angeles, and is included in The Getty Research Institute collection, Los Angeles. She earned her Master of Fine Arts from Otis College of Art and Design, and her Bachelor of Science from St John’s University.
