M. Florine Démosthène est née aux États-Unis et a grandi entre Port-au-Prince, Haïti et New York. Démosthène a obtenu son Bachelor of Fine Arts à la Parsons School for Design de New York et son Master of Fine Arts au Hunter College-City University of New York. Elle a beaucoup exposé dans le cadre d’expositions collectives et individuelles aux États-Unis, aux Caraïbes, au Royaume-Uni, en Europe et en Afrique. Parmi ses récentes expositions individuelles, citons Between Possibility and Actuality à la galerie Mariane Ibrahim de Chicago, une exposition individuelle avec la galerie Mariane Ibrahim à l’Armory Fair de New York et The Stories I Tell Myself à la galerie 1957 d’Accra, au Ghana. Elle a reçu un prix Wachtmeister, une bourse Tulsa Artist Fellowship, une bourse Arts Moves Africa et une bourse de la Fondation Joan Mitchell. She has exhibited extensively through group and solo exhibitions in the USA, Caribbean, UK, Europe and Africa, with recent solo shows including, Between Possibility and Actuality at Mariane Ibrahim Gallery Chicago, a solo booth exhibition with Mariane Ibrahim Gallery at the The New York Armory Fair and The Stories I Tell Myself with Gallery 1957 Accra, Ghana. She is the recipient of a Wachtmeister Award, Tulsa Artist Fellowship, Arts Moves Africa Grant and a Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant. She has participated in residencies in the USA, Caribbean, UK, Slovakia, Ghana and Tanzania. Her work can be seen at National Museum For African American History and Culture, Africa First Collection, University of South Africa (UNISA), Lowe Museum of Art, Hessler Museum of Art, PFF Collection of African American Art and in various private collections worldwide.
