Né à Saint-Louis (Sénégal) en 1953, Guibril Andrée Diop est un artiste plasticien sénégalais contemporain qui s’est fait connaître par ses sculptures métalliques. Il a été formé au centre de formation artisanale de Soumbédioune et à l’Institut national des arts du Sénégal dans les années 1990. Après avoir expérimenté plusieurs matériaux, il s’est orienté essentiellement vers le fer qui est l’un des composantes essentielles du corps humain et qui trouve également des références dans les textes coraniques. Surnommé le maître sénégalais du fer. Son expression trouve un socle assuré dans la spiritualité. Diop figure dans les prestigieuses collections internationales et a été exposé aux quatre coins du globe. Il a remporté plusieurs prix et distinctions qui lui confèrent une notoriété mondiale.
Guibril André Diop, born in Saint-Louis (Senegal) in 1953, is a contemporary Senegalese plastic artist who is known for his metal sculptures.
