Lizette Nin est une artiste dominicaine née en 1984 à Jimaní et vit entre Barcelone et Santo Domingo. Son travail explore des aspects autobiographiques et ses racines afro-descendantes, visant à donner de la visibilité aux groupes sociaux marginalisés et à leurs luttes.
Depuis cinq ans, son œuvre s’est construite autour de l’exploration de son héritage en tant que femme noire et sur l’investigation des expériences des communautés marginalisées. Son travail actuel se concentre sur le “faire” comme moyen de production, avec des actions telles que la cuisine ou la tresse de cheveux devenant l’œuvre elle-même. À travers ces actions, elle vise à créer des espaces d’exploration et d’investigation au-delà des méthodes de recherche traditionnelles. Ces actions impliquent également la collaboration avec d’autres personnes, qui apportent leurs propres expériences et histoires à l’œuvre.
Ses expositions récentes incluent “El Robo del Dolor” au Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes à Santiago du Chili en 2023 ; “Proyecto ECO” au Centro de la Imagen de México en 2022 ; “Exterior/Interior” à la Fundació Suñol de Barcelone en 2022 et “Si las palabras hablaran” à la Fundación Sandretto de Madrid en 2022.
Lizette Nin is a Dominican artist born in 1984 in Jimaní and lives between Barcelona and Santo Domingo. Her work explores autobiographical aspects and her Afro-descendant roots, aiming to give visibility to marginalized social groups and their struggles.
For five years, her work has been built around the exploration of her heritage as a black woman and the investigation of the experiences of marginalized communities. Her current work focuses on “making” as a means of production, with actions such as cooking or braiding hair becoming the work itself. Through these actions, it aims to create spaces for exploration and investigation beyond traditional research methods. These actions also involve collaboration with other people, who bring their own experiences and stories to the work.
